I just watched Julie & Julia & was suddenly inspired to become a fantastic cook, so I’m making tater tots.
I'm Melissa. I live in Brooklyn & work in New York City. I recently made the decision to turn my love for taking pictures into a career - this is where I document my attempts, along with anything else I feel like sharing. People I know & like & so should you:

Can’t wait. My life has been too boring these past few weeks & that’s going to end tomorrow. Not tonight - tonight’s just laundry night. Nothing exciting about that.
January 24th was my blog’s 2 year anniversary. I didn’t post anything on that day.
I wonder what I was doing that day that was so important I couldn’t be bothered to post/remember this important date. It was a Sunday & the dog was still alive so…I was probably at my parents house doing laundry. Oh, wait, scratch that - according to Twitter I didn’t get out of bed until 3 in the afternoon. Sheesh. Laundry sounded so much more productive.
This guy doesn’t get enough work. We need more Francis/Chubby/Stilwell Angel.
Not sure what made me thing of him all of a sudden, but there you go.

My aunt sent me a sympathy card for my dog & it made me cry like a little girl.
I had an actual snow day today, my first since I was in high school, & this is how I spent it.
I was disappointed the snow wasn’t the light & fluffy kind - it was the wet & clingy kind, not fun to play in at all. So it’s been my comfy bed & The IT Crowd for the past few hours.
This clarinet player had set up shop next to the hospital (about two blocks from the boardwalk) & was nice enough to let me photograph him while he played. I didn’t really get why he was playing where he was - it was a very deserted street, I sort of felt like we were in an alley between the hospital & a casino…I didn’t see another person until I got back onto a main drag. Oh, well.

Last week I visited Atlantic City with some relatives & took a walk on the beach while they went shopping. I hope to be back soon, I’d really like to explore more of the city. Road trip, anyone?
I wish you were allowed to photograph people in the casinos. I had some ideas for a project but the whole “you’ll be arrested for sure if you even try” thing is a bit of a deterrent.

I just got the biggest urge to play some of the old Commodore 64 games I played as a kid.
Anyone else have Dream House & A Nightmare on Elm Street?
At first glance this website is a bit insane, but when you watch the little “interviews” this guy has with his wife post-movie, where she explains why she is literally sobbing by the end of Star Wars, it’s actually pretty funny.
“During World War II the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from a Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting and trompe l’oeil to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air.”
This is neat.
The Aircruise: interesting new way to travel, as long as you’re not in a rush or don’t mind spending some bucks (I’m guessing - this looks a trifle expensive).
