Last night I went to a screening of John Ford’s The Quiet Man (1952) at Soho House, hosted by Gabriel Byrne to raise money for FilmAid. I’ve never really enjoyed older movies, and have been scorned many times for it. This was my first John Wayne experience, what a sexy man! The way he lights those cigarettes. I couldn’t stop thinking of Maureen O’Hara as the mother in the original Parent Trap. Anyway, it was a great night and I really enjoyed hearing Gabriel speak.
So incredibly jealous right now. I love both the Quiet Man & Gabriel Byrne.
